Page history last edited by Madeline Burchard 9 years, 11 months ago

Susan Isola (upgmedia@pitt.edu): For middle school science teachers in southwestern Pennsylvania interested in earning 20 hours in ACT 48 credits and developing hands-on, inquiry-based teaching techniques for the Sun, the Solor System, and the Science Grade 8 Assessment Anchors should check out Pitt-Greensburg's two-day program.

I was quite disappointed yesterday after using http://friendorfollow.com/ Why oh why advertise your twitter address on here and then not bother to follow people back. Are science teachers after the ego-trip of picking up followers rather than building an interactive network. Made me think.

NO...science teachers would never do that...perhaps they were just experimenting and got caught up in the lab!! lol :)

I am truly amazed when I look at the resources available on this website - I am wandering has anyone created a page specifically for their students to use - if so can you explain how?

Jenny, This page is a wikki--Are you familiar with wikkis? If not, check out pbworks.com. I am presently taking a free online class via this company and it is awesome. You could develop a student page similar to this one for teachers. YEA!!
FYI: I write science books for kids and would love to correspond with teachers about science. I am such a newbee with web stuff--I am sure elementary kids understand it a lot more than I do. Since I understand email more than twitter---(I am working on this)--please contact me at ASKVANCLEAVE@aol.com for now---I'll be twittering son.

TigerPhysics - I teach AP Physics B and Honors Physics at Pickerington High School Central in Pickerington, Ohio. I have also taught Chemistry and Physical Science classes. I use the modeling style of teaching in my physics classroom. I am just starting to use twitter and I am trying to figure out the best way to help my students.

My Twitter page is located at the following address:
http://twitter.com/TigerPhysics

What resources have people found to be most useful in developing their Twitter and other tools for their classes?

Greeting All!! twitter can be difficult to navigate completely, so please do not be upset at science teachers for twitter misunderstanding :)http://twitter.com/touchtanks. This twitter for science teachers is a very cool innovative teaching concept.

Science teachers tell me that kids must "do science to learn science" here is an innovative teaching idea that allows kids to do science. http://www.touch-tank.com/187/innovative-teaching-aquarium/

Warm regards,
Mike
