Response to Intervention is designed to close the gaps of struggling learners.  The core of RtI is that it relies on reserach based strategies designed to aid struggling learners in the classroom.  It is intervention designed for the classroom and i if implemented with high fidelity, 80%-85% of students will be successful.  There are many variations of RtI ranging from 3 - 5 tiers.  The main purpose is to provide struggling learners with an academic plan to be successful as well as provide valuable data through progress monitoring to determine any possible learning disabilities. A great link and guide to RtI is www.rticentral.org
